Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle is a truly amazing place, the biggest and best of Scotland’s castles. It used to be home to Scottish kings and queens, a place where important people gathered for grand parties. This impressive fortress has a long history, with battles fought between the Scots and English for hundreds of years.

From its walls, you can see the famous battlefields of William Wallace’s 1297 Battle of Stirling and Robert the Bruce’s 1314 Battle of Bannockburn. You’ll walk through the Royal Palace, seeing where kings and queens lived for centuries, from Alexander I in the 11th century to James VI in the 17th century, and admire the beautiful Queen’s bedroom.

You can also enjoy the castle’s fantastic stone carvings and lovely gardens. This visit is a key part of our Scottish Castles Tour, giving you a real taste of Scotland’s royal past.

The Glenturret Distillery

Our journey takes us to Glenturret Distillery, the oldest whisky place in Scotland that’s still working. It started in 1775, secretly making whisky, and then became legal in 1818. Glenturret still makes whisky the old way, using traditional methods.

You’ll see how they make their special single malt whisky, with guides telling you all about the history of this famous Scottish brand. After a 60 Minute tour, you’ll get to try two different whiskies from their excellent collection. This part of our Scottish Castles Tour also includes time for lunch in their new restaurant or a snack in the cafe, with hot drinks available too. It’s a real taste of Scottish whisky making.

The Drummond Castle Gardens

Sadly, Drummond Castle Gardens are closed just now, but we’ll still stop for a fantastic photo opportunity. This stunning castle and its gardens are famous for being in the Outlander TV show. You’ll get to see and take pictures of one of the most beautiful formal gardens in Europe, with amazing views of the castle itself.

Even though we can’t go inside, the outside views are truly spectacular and a memorable stop on our Scottish Castles Tour. You’ll still experience a piece of Outlander magic and see a truly grand Scottish landmark.

Tullibardine Distillery

Tullibardine has a really old history of making drinks, going all the way back to 1488. That’s when King James IV of Scotland bought beer there, which was the first time beer was officially sold in Scotland!

You’ll get a good look at how they make whisky in a 45-minute tour. We’ll show you every step, from start to finish, so you can learn how they turn simple things into delicious whisky. At the end, you’ll get to try two different single malts in their cosy bar. It’s a great way to understand and enjoy real Scottish whisky.

Doune Castle

Also known as Castle Leoch, where we stop to take in the photogenic setting of the historical castle which features in Outlander as The Mackenzie’s home.

We’ll pause at Doune Castle, also known as Castle Leoch from Outlander. It’s a really lovely old castle, perfect for taking photos. You’ll see the very place where the Mackenzie family lived in the show. It’s a great chance to capture a beautiful historical site.

Scottish Castles

A perfectly lovely day traveling around Scotland with Mr. Waseem. He was incredibly knowledgeable about everything we asked and if we stumped him he found out for us. He made unscheduled stops so we could have a more tailored experience. He always made sure we were comfortable, having water and shortbread cookies for us. This is the tour to take if you want to see all of Scotland in a day. You won’t be disappointed!
